Ahh Tim and Shelby's wedding. This was a thoroughly enjoyable day for me - it's not just that they were massive fans of The Office (the US version, naturally) or that they were getting married at one of my all time favourite wedding venues (Bredenbury Court Barns) but they just looked so happy with each other, and had such a laugh all day. Admittedly, having their wedding party recreate *that* famous wedding dance scene from The Office did go some way towards adding to my enjoyment, but it's hard not to love every second of your job on days like these.
For most of the day it had been bright and overcast, which is actually perfect for wedding photography as it means you can shoot in pretty much any direction that takes your fancy, and no one ends up staring into the sun and squinting. It's never a good look.
The sun at Bredenbury Court sets behind the venue during the summer months, and when it all comes together you can get this fantastic golden light where the sun cuts between two clouds and then gets filtered further through the tall trees that surround the car park. As it had become the perfect summer's evening, most of the guests had returned outside to soak up some evening rays after the wedding breakfast had finished, which left me with somewhat of a cluttered background (if you look to the right of the image you can see a table where some guests were playing beer-pong!) but instead of work to remove people and things from the background, I decided to work with it. This is definitely a photo that's all about the couple and how much they're clearly enjoying themselves, but keeping hints of the wedding in the background helps remind them of the wider part of their day. Sunsets at Bredenbury - 10/10, would recommend.
