I honestly love working at Bredenbury Court Barns in literally any weather. The orangery, the room that plays host to inside wedding ceremonies is light and gorgeous whether it's 35c and sunny outside, or -6c and snowing. The evening light at Bredenbury through the summer months of the year comes down low behind the venue, cutting through the trees and often generating this amazing golden hour glow.
In this image, the interplay of light and composition truly elevates the moment into something magical. The soft, golden light gently illuminates the couple, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere that perfectly complements their happiness. The light filtering through the trees in the background not only adds depth to the scene but also highlights the delicate details of the bride's dress and the groom's suit, making them stand out against the more subdued backdrop.
One of the most striking elements of this photograph is how the bride's veil gracefully frames the couple. The veil, captured in mid-flow, creates beautiful, sweeping lines that guide the viewer's eye directly toward the bride and groom's faces. This natural leading line not only draws attention to their expressions but also adds a sense of movement to the image, almost as if the veil is embracing the couple in their joyous moment.
The expressions of the bride and groom are, without a doubt, the focal point of this photograph which makes it one of my favourites. Their shared gaze is filled with love, happiness, and a deep connection that is palpable even someone that doesn't know the couple. The way they look at each other, with smiles that are both tender and full of joy, tells a story of a couple deeply in love, savouring one of the most significant moments of their lives. I've always said in a somewhat corny and clichéd way that there really is a look of love - and it's written all over their faces!
As a photographer, capturing such authentic emotion is always the goal, and in this image, everything came together perfectly. The soft light, the flowing veil, and, most importantly, the radiant happiness of the bride and groom, all combine to create a timeless image that I'm sure they'll treasure forever.
You might find it hard to believe but the above image was actually taken on the driveway that skirts around the side of the venue! The image below shows the couple, looking equally as happy, standing on the main lawn of the venue (a slightly more conventional location for a photoshoot!)
