If you've read the 'about me section' on my website you'll know I used to be a wildlife photographer, and one of the things I used to enjoy the most was "environmental portraiture" whereby there's still a subject, but you show them in the wider context of their environment. What this actually means, hence the air quotes I was doing in my mind as I typed, is that I couldn't get any closer owing to the subject being too far away, the subject being too dangerous to get closer to or me just being too lazy to try. I don't run into the same problems at weddings, which means when I do some environmental portraiture, I actually meant it. Above is one such example. I actually did a super-wide angle shot of this too which I perhaps like even more, but in the context of it being 2024 and people looking at websites on their 5 inch phone screen, the bride and groom look more like ants. From the air. Cool photo though.
