It's an age old joke (or not joke) about getting on with your in-laws. Let's be honest, it can be hit or miss. That was clearly not the case for this wedding - The bride even remarked in the morning that she thought her fiancé was marrying her for her father!
At the majority of weddings where the bride is being 'given away' (or at least escorted down the aisle) by her father or other special person in her life, there might be a little emotion from the groom, perhaps a little from the bride too. Then, when they meet at the end of the aisle, there's a look between them that 'everything is going to be alright' and any nerves fade away. The person giving the bride away gives her a kiss on the cheek and stands to one side, where the ceremony begins. Not at this wedding. As soon as the bride with her father got to the end of the aisle, both dad and the groom burst out laughing. It was infectious too, and before long most of the guests had joined. I love how the bride stands between them, beaming with happiness, caught up in the sheer joy of the moment. It’s a scene that speaks volumes about the bond that has formed between these two important men in her life.
